Love Like Christ

In a world that seems to be growing colder by the minute, it is our job as followers of Christ to extend unconditional love to everyone we meet. While some scoff at the idea of emphasizing UNCONDITIONAL love, it serves as the foundation for the 'greatest commandment' given by our Savior.

How often has the narrative switched to a mindset of 'cutting off' loved ones because they do not do as we say? Or because they no longer serve our personal agendas. Maybe it is a stranger that does not match your educational or socioeconomic class, does this make them unworthy of your love and time? Is this truly Love?

As Believers, we are blessed to have the greatest model of unconditional love... Our Heavenly Father as He was and is the ultimate in demonstrating unconditional love, and set the paradigm for us all in how to love without expectation.

Mark 12:28-31 (NIV)

The Greatest Commandment

28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”

29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment

greater than these.”

It is customary to exhibit abounding examples of love during the month of February but let us challenge ourselves to extend God's love to every person we meet every day of the year. To extend this commandment and gift genuinely is truly a testimony of the goodness of God.

Attributes of Love According To Corinthians:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

1 PATIENT - Love is patient

2 KIND - Love is kind

3 ADMIRATION - It does not envy

4 HUMBLE - It does not boast, it is not proud

5 JUST - It does not dishonor others

6 NOBLE - It is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth

7 DEFENDER - It always protects

8 SECURE - Always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

9 DEPENDABLE - Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Scripture states (Song of Solomon 8:6) that Love is as strong as than death. That is a powerful tool to possess. We have been commanded to not only genuinely possess it, but to share it with the world.

In your daily walk, are you being obedient to the greatest commandment of all?
